2. Don’t be a Follower. Don’t just follow a blog so that the blogger will follow you back. Personally, it drives me crazy when someone leaves a comment on my blog telling me that if I follow them, they will follow me back. How old are we?? I don’t mean to offend anyone by writing this, but it’s honestly how I feel. I almost always check out the blogs of people who comment on my blog. I look at the blog, labels, and read a few posts. Sometimes I’ll decide to follow, sometimes I wont. I want people to follow my blog because they like what they read and want to know more. Not because they think it will get them more followers.
Top 2 Things You’ve Learned About Blogging
1. Be Yourself! Don’t write what you think others will want to hear. Write about your life, your loves, your hates, your good times and even bad. Blogging is for you and about your life (well most blogs anyway), do what you want!
A few other tidbits…
*Keep a list of things you want to blog about (I keep a post it on my desk)
*Use pictures, people (including myself) want to be able to actually see what you’re writing about.
*Do a blog cleanup every once and a while. There may be some blogs that you’re not interested in anymore or bloggers that are no longer blogging. Out with the old and make room for the new.
*Comment on blogs you read so the reader knows you’ve stopped by.
*Include your email in your profile so that bloggers can reply to your comments. I’ve gotten to know a lot of blog friends through the email feature!
