Last weekend we headed an hour north to Orlando, FL for a wedding at Disney world. It was the wedding of a long time friend of mine back from my ice skating days. My parents joined us for this daytime wedding, which made it even more fun. The ceremony was at a beautiful chapel on the Disney property. The day was beautiful, though it was a little chilly at first. The chapel was perfect. BEautiful ceilings and windows all around. The bride arrived in horse and carriage. She was stunning. About half way through the ceremony there was a little planned skit with the ring exchange. The groom said he forgot it and in walked a character (not sure the name of it but he made loud announcements) with a glass slipper on a pillow and the ring. It was a complete surprise to all the guests. I love those little details that make weddings unique! THe guests will never forget that ceremony. After the ceremony ended they lined all of the guests up on the sidewalk. We were given pink rose petals to throw at the bride and groom as they walked towards their horse and carriage ready to take them to the reception. Bet those pictures will be ah-mazing!
The reception was at a conference center a minute away, still on Disney property. The cocktail hour was outdoor and filled with my favorite foods. Calamari, cheese, crackers, bread, olives and various meats. I
like an idiot forgot my ID, so they wouldn’t serve me. Even with my parents and husband there. My mom didn’t have hers either and they still served her. Therefore she had to get my drinks for the day. I may or may not have had some choice words with the bartender. Back to the wedding-the same announcer character from the ceremony came and announced for everyone to head towards the reception room. It was a very large room, beautifully decorated. Light pink was the accent color for the wedding, it was simple yet elegant. The next 4 hours were filled with food, drinks, dancing, disney music and…Mickey and Minnie. Yes ladies, Mickey and Minnie made an appearance at the wedding for a good hour! The kids had a blast with them. I definitely enjoyed watching the entertainment. It was a perfect day for a very special couple! Of course, this post wouldn’t be complete without some pictures to share with you!
