One of the things on my 101 in 1001 list was to go paint pottery. While I was in college, I worked at You Do the Dishes. It’s a paint your own pottery and coffee shop. I loved it there and was able to put my creativity to use every day. I stopped working there 5 years ago and have only been back a handful of times. It’s one of those things that I always want to do but can never find the time. Well a few weeks back, over spring break I made the time. I spend a whole day there painting my heart away. I loved every minute of it and am going to make it a priority to go back more often. Painting is therapy to me.
The best part of the day is when one of my best freinds brought her then 2 week old for a little project. I knew I wanted to do something special for Callie when she was born and decided to do her footprints. She cooperated perfectly and I love how her plaque came out. It’s now sitting on a plate stand in her nursery. I also made her a cross to match the plaque. I had all intentions of giving it as a baptism gift, but I don’t keep gifts well. I gave it to her as soon as it was finished!
If you’ve never been to a paint your own pottery studio, I would totally recommend it!
