Earlier this month I traveled to Indiana to visit one of my best friend’s Brittney. She is the proud mommy of one of the cutest three year old I know (Kaidyn) and to her new bundle of joy, Keegan. I planned the trip to meet Keegan who was eight weeks old the day I arrived. I was also thrilled to be able to experience a bit of fall while I was there. I had hoped for a bit cooler weather, but I settled for the gorgeous changing leaves, warm days and cool nights. I was there Saturday through Monday. I definitely needed a little getaway and loved my time with the Wardlaws. I love them all to pieces and wish we lived closer.
We started off the weekend eating lunch at a little Mexican restaurant. I was stealing hugs and snuggles from this princess all day long. How darling is she?
Then we went back to their house. When I was visiting last year, their house was still being built. I couldn’t wait to see the finished product in person. I’m so jealous of the houses up north. Houses here are so different and we don’t get as much bang for our buck. If D and I ended up in Louisville (slim possibility with his work) there was a house across the street I had my eye on! After a tour of their beautiful home, we took advantage of the cooling temperatures and played outside. That is exactly when I stole the baby until we went back inside. My heart was completely full the entire weekend with all the baby and Kaidyn love!
Brittney always plans fun things when I visit. This weekend we went to a few fall festivals. The first one was on Saturday night. We definitely don’t have festivals like that down here. We experienced a wide variety of people and food. There was no shortage of laughter, I think we could have people watched all night long. I think the saying of the night was “Really? Did we just hear/see/experience that?” The highlight of the night was this ginormous bag of kettle corn that we bought. It was warm when they gave it to us. I love kettle corn popcorn. Brittney asked about how fattening I thought it was and I just laughed. I blame my weight gain from the trip on this bag. None of us could stop eating it, which is why it didn’t last 24 hours!
I woke up a little early on Sunday and enjoyed some quiet time out on the porch. What I would give for a view like that every morning…
Sunday during the day we ventures to Hubers (I think) for some pumpkin fun. I made K & K some pumpkin shirts to wear. We took a tractor ride, played on the playground, enjoyed some fried chicken and dumplings and Kaidyn even picked out a painted pumpkin. It was such a cute & fun place!
That night we made smores outside and chatted. Brittney and I talk weekly, but being able to be there in person made it so much better. I look up to her and value her advice. I’m so lucky to have her as part of my life. I’m looking forward to their spring break trip to Florida in March! Love you all, thank you for a great trip!
