I knew this day would come. The day where I would have to put down the peanut M&M’s and get my butt back into shape. I gained 40 pounds during my pregnancy. I think 30 were legit but 10 were from the first trimester when I was so sick all I could stomach was chicken fingers, fries & pizza. Yes, I ate like a 5 year old. I gave into my cravings during my pregnancy, because when else are you going to be able to eat what you want and it’s okay to gain weight? I didn’t go crazy but if I wanted a blizzard from DQ, I had one. I also walked 5 days a week until the day before I delivered, hoping the exercise would help me post baby. I definitely don’t think I let myself go but now I’m ready to get my pre-pregnancy body back.
Today, I’m officially 5 weeks postpartum. I’ve officially lost 20 of the 40 pounds I gained. Don’t get me wrong, I am very happy with that. But, I lost that in the first week. The past month, I haven’t loss any weight. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been but at the same time I’m not happy with the way I look and getting dressed to go anywhere SUCKS. Plain and simple. Now, I know I just had a baby 5 weeks ago and I’m not here to gripe about how I look, I’m here to tell you what I’m going to do about it. I gave myself a 1 month break after AG was born. I had a newborn at home the last thing I wanted to stress about was what I was eating and my weight. But, at the one month mark I decided to get serious and do something about it.
So, I joined Weight Watchers. I’ve never done a diet program before but I knew that I needed help and a program. The main reason for that is because I’m breastfeeding, which makes weight loss tricky. I can’t do what I did in the past, cut the calories and work my ass off. For one, I don’t have the okay to workout yet and two, my milk supply will diminish if I do that. The reason why I chose Weight Watchers was because they have a point allowance for nursing mothers. So I signed up one week ago and officially started tracking on Monday.
I didn’t want to share my weight with the world but I realized that was the only way to hold myself accountable and will be the extra push I need on days when I need it. So, every other Friday, I’ll be sharing my weight loss progress with you. I promise to be honest, even when I want to lie. I’ve given myself three months to lose as much as I can on the program. My first goal is to be able to fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes on my birthday, November 22nd. My second goal is to have the baby weight off by the end of the year.
Pre-pregnancy Weight: 120
Starting Weight (9/10/12): 140
End of Pregnancy Weight: 160
Goal Weight: 116
This Week’s Loss/Gain: –2 lbs
Total Weight Lost: 22
Food: I tracked everything I ate this week from Monday on. I stayed within my alloted points and made it a point to eat healthier. Some of my favorites this week were rice cakes with peanut butter and bananas and rice cakes with nutella for dessert.
Fitness: I didn’t do as good this week as I did last week. I walked three days this week for about 45 minutes each walk.
Goals for the Week:
*Walk 4-5 days
*Plan meals for the week

Well done Leah, so proud of you for getting started and being so determined.
My little girl is 5 months old already and I am still struggling to lose the last few kgs!! I put on 22kgs when I was pregnant (and I felt terrible!!) and I have only lost 15kgs so still quite a few to go… and it is not easy!
Keep it up and I will be following your progress and supporting you all the way.

Good luck lady!!! 🙂

Good for you! Weight Watchers is awesome…I swear by it!
I've done horribly this week and haven't tracked at all and I can so tell. Tracking is the MOST IMPORTANT thing!
2 lbs is a great loss…keep it up. You can do it!!!!
You go, girl! You'll be able to do it – I know it! Raven and Kristen are hosting a weight loss/get healthy link up on Thursdays if you wanted to join them :)http://www.dontquotetheraven.com/2012/09/inspire-me-healthy-andor-dream-home.html
Girl I am right there with you! Excited to read about your progress! 🙂
This is awesome Leah, I have contemplated writing a very similar post because I know if I write about it I will be a lot more inclined to really be cautious about it! I've thought about WW, is counting points a pain? YOU WILL DO IT!!
lol we are practically exactly the same!! I weighed 113 at the beginning, just from being sick all the time, I normally weigh around 123 though. Anyway, I gained 50 pounds during my pregnancy!! I lost around 20 something just from giving birth but now i'm stuck at 142, at six weeks postpartum & my goal weight is 115-120. So i'm RIGHT THERE WITH YA! I've been doing the stair master at the gym, if you have heard of those, they make you sweat hardcore & I already see a "tone" difference. I really wanted to try the video "insanity" its on tv, that you order, but haven't had the nerve to try yet because I want to take it easy still.
