When planning out AG’s Advent activities, I knew “bake Christmas cookies” would be on the top of the list. As part of our North Pole Breakfast, I included Betty Crocker’s Sugar Cookie Mix along with some icing in AG’s gift. She was so excited, I even told her she could wear her special Christmas apron to help bake the cookies. Quality time + Christmas cookies are the best way to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year.
On December 4th, National Cookie Day, we waited for L to go down for a nap and started baking the afternoon away. Before we started baking, AG put on her special apron. Official Cooke Taster. Couldn’t be more true! I may be a little bias but my goodness she’s cute!
I was directed to put on a matching apron and happily obliged.
A selfie was taken to document the occasion.
Now onto baking! I always grab Betty Crocker’s Cookie Mix when baking with AG. It’s always quick and easy and makes the most delicious cookies. On this day, we made a few cutout cookies and my favorite, sprinkle cookies.
My little helper took her place on the counter and we got to work. I measured, she poured it in, I started mixing, she finished. Team work at it’s finest.
To make the sugar sprinkle cookies, all you need are sprinkles and the sugar cookie mix. Once you have the mix, roll a tablespoon of the dough into a ball. Once the ball is formed, roll it in the sugar. Once your ball is coated in sugar, place it to bake on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Follow the baking directions on the package and you’re good to go. Your cookies will be ready in less than 15 minutes, which is perfect when you have an impatient toddler waiting to bit into them.
Here is our finished product. And yes, they tasted as good as they look. We packaged them up and delivered them to family, spreading Christmas cheer along the way.
Our cut out cookies also turned out pretty fabulous. And little miss LOVED decorating these with her easy bags of icing.
The best part of the day was spending quality time with my big girl. We don’t get a lot of one on one time these days and when we do, I make sure to savor every moment. AG has a love for Christmas like her mama, which makes moments like this during the holidays even more special. Baking Christmas cookies will definitely be a tradition we will continue for years to come!
