Oh my wild child,
Sweet Lukey Luke, you are one and a half years old. In no time, we’ll be celebrating your second birthday and I’ll continue wondering where in the world the time went. These past 18 months have been the best, all because of you. Before you were born, we knew you’d complete our family. While we knew that, we didn’t really know how that would feel until you were here with us. It’s still something that is hard to describe, but because of you our hearts are full. The love you give, the joy you bring, it’s everything.
As you continue to grow, so does your personality. And my goodness, you have a BIG personality. It’s safe to say that you and your sister are complete opposites. You’re the daredevil, the wild child that has absolutely no fear. You are outgoing, love being around others and have yet to go through any separation anxiety. You’ll eat almost anything put in front of you and always want to do everything your sister is doing.
Your nickname is “wrecking ralph” given to you by your sister. You can demolish toys faster than anything I’ve ever seen. Throwing them, smashing them, slamming them….all boy you are. You LOVE to climb on all the things. Most of them are things you shouldn’t be on which has lead to lots of removing toys, rearranging rooms and a large pile of things placed in the garage until you kick this little habit. Seriously, you climb on things I didn’t even know was possible to climb on. You’re happy as long as you have your toys, attention or snacks. You can entertain yourself for a good amount of time, which is still something that amazes me.
You also have a bit of a temper and can throw a fit like I’ve never seen before. I’m talking full blown, flailing on the floor, screaming fit. This is definitely something that makes me a tad nervous since you’re not even two yet. Most of the time these happen when you don’t get your way or a toy gets taken away from you. Thankfully they don’t last long. I’m also grateful that I have a great hair dresser because if this is a sneak at what is to come, I’ll be going grey pretty fast.
Over the past six months, you’ve started talking a lot more. You can say mama, dada, bye bye, hi, boa, thank you, all done, papa and nana. You’re running all day and long, still love your naps most of the time and praise the Lord, continue to sleep through the night. You have the sweetest smile and you LOVE TO LOVE. You can snuggle all day long. Especially in your dads lap while watching an entire movie. You still want to be held a lot, especially if it’s a fussy moment. The hugs and kisses are endless with you and we all soak them up.
Boy do you love your sister. You want to be near her, pulling on her, sitting on her, stealing her toys and so on. Your favorite part of the day is when she gets up or we pick her up from school. She feels the same about you. We call her a little mama because she loves to take care of you. You two hold hands on walks, love chasing each other around the house and sometimes just sit and snuggle. There is no sweeter thing to watch and I cannot wait to see your relationship continue to bloom over the years.
Your dad and I love you to the moon, sweet boy. You are such a blessing and a light in our lives. xoxo0 Did you like this post?
